SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nearly 140 students throughout the state are making history this graduation season as the first in the California Community Colleges to earn a bachelor’s degree through the groundbreaking Baccalaureate Pilot Program.

A veteran high school counselor in Santa Ana has been selected as the winner of the Arthur S. Marmaduke Award for outstanding achievements in high school counseling. Beau Menchaca has been honored in a ceremony at Century High School, during the Senior Breakfast, for his dedication in encouraging students to pursue their higher education dreams.

Maria Salinas set to become first woman to lead L.A. Chamber of Commerce
The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has named financial consultant Maria Salinas as its new chief executive and president, making her the first Latino and first woman to lead the 130-year-old organization.
Salinas, 52, replaces longtime head Gary Toebben. She takes over in August.
