To make post-secondary education accessible to all, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is helping all students, including low-income and first-generation collegegoers complete the financial aid application process through its Cash for College program.

Students and families can attend free virtual statewide Cash for College webinars for help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the California Dream Act Application (CADAA), and the Chafee Grant for Foster Youth Application.

Dear Students and Families,

Do you need Cash for College? It is not too late!

FAFSA and California Dream Act Application (CADAA) applicants attending a CA Community College, as well as Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applicants can still qualify for financial aid if they apply by September 2nd! Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) now! If you are or were in foster care between the ages of 16 and 18, you can also apply for the Chafee Grant for Foster Youth. Need help with your application? Register for the California Student Aid Commission’s (CSAC) FREE Cash for College Webinars to get your questions answered.

At a Cash for College webinar you can learn about the FAFSA, CADAA, and Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applications, as well as receive private assistance live via their Cash for College hotline.

Register for a webinar that works with your schedule here!

Prior to the webinar:

Create your FSA ID (only for FAFSA filers and parent(s) or guardian(s) with a SSN), OR Dream Act Account  (only for CADAA filers)

During the webinar, please have the following documents available:

  • Driver’s License (optional)
  • Social Security Card (if you have one)
  • Alien Registration Card (if you have one)
  • ITIN (if you have one)
  • List of colleges you are interested in
  • Most current bank statements.
  • Any records of untaxed income
  • 2019 tax information (1040’s and W2’s)

You will have an opportunity to ask questions via the Zoom Q&A box (general questions only) or via their Cash for College hotline throughout the webinar. Please have your FSA ID or Dream Act Account completed prior to the webinar so you can follow along and complete the application.
