School Year 2016 — 2017 Newsletters

Newsletter Summer 2017
The California Student Aid Commission hopes that you had a restful and fun summer. As schools are preparing for students to arrive and begin the next academic year we wanted to provide you with a few updates and reminders.
Newsletter Spring 2017
Congratulations on all the work you put forth to encourage your students to complete a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application! We are happy to announce that there was an increase in on-time applications from this year (2017-18) to last year (2016-17).
As we close out 2016 and welcome in 2017
We want to bring you a check-list of the Commission’s top priorities for High School Counselors this quarter. With the early FAFSA the Commission was able to begin notifying students of their Cal Grant Award Status in November 2016. This allowed over 65,000 students more time to effectively plan for college and allow counselors enough time to assist these students with college decisions and preparations.
Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!
In this issue we want to bring you updated and relevant information from the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). With the early Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application(CADAA) filing that opened on October 1 and Grade Point Average(GPA) submissions from high school counselors, we at CSAC are doing everything we can to make both submission processes as easy and smooth as possible.
