Student Representative Governor Appointee
Christian Rubalcava is a student at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) working towards a degree in Business Management and a minor in Political Science. He is a San Fernando Valley native, being born and raised in Sylmar and graduating from the North Valley Military Institute in Granada Hills.
Christian is extremely grateful for the opportunities the California Student Aid Commission has provided him before his appointment as Commissioner. As a Cal Grant recipient, Christian has been able to succeed in the University with minimal financial stresses. Christian has been heavily involved in the Associated Students at CSUN, first serving as the Lower Division Senator and currently serving as the Attorney General. He is also a member of the Academic Grievances and Grade Appeals Board and the Campus Fee Advisory Committee at CSUN.
Christian is a strong community advocate, and believes that information and engagement at the neighborhood level is key to statewide success. As a member of the Sylmar Neighborhood Council, Christian believes his local experience can connect Commission resources to communities across California.
