Devon Graves is a student at University of California, Los Angeles, Graduate School of Education and Information Studies working towards his Masters of Arts Higher Education and Organizational Change. He graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Arts Political Science with a Minor in Public Relations. He is from Murrieta California where he graduated from Vista Murrieta High School in 2011.
Devon is a first generation college student who was able to access the California State University by taking advantage of federal financial aid options. He has been heavily involved as a student at Cal Poly Pomona. Devon was a redshirt on the menís basketball team and served on the Bronco Athletic Association. He left the basketball team in 2012 when he was appointed Attorney General for the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI). After serving his term in ASI, Devon was elected as the Chair of the California State Student Association (CSSA), the recognized statewide advocacy group for the 437,000 CSU students.
Devon believes that every eligible Californian should be able to attend college and that a personís socioeconomic background should not be a barrier to access. Heís passionate about financial literacy and wants to promote the Commissionís programs and information to ensure that students have all the tools they need to understand the cost of college, take advantage of all financial aid opportunities, and select the college that best suits them. Devon hopes to attend graduate school to obtain a masterís degree in Higher Education Administration.
